Happy Hoppy Easter!

Happy Easter!

I spent today with the family. Had a lovely time playing with my darling niece, although I'm clearly lacking in the nappy changing department. Certainly not my strongest skill.

My lil bro reckons I will be pregnant 6 months after getting married. And it'll be a boy. I'd like a little boy. We'll call him Joshua. I hope we also have a little girl too one day, I'd like to have more than one child.

Let's get married first though.

My matron of honour is coming soon. I can't wait to see her. Wedding plans are on hold until I hear back from my venue so not much to report there and I haven't put much more thought into it.

Mr SS's sisters have been visiting this weekend. We went to Questacon and did some shopping. It was nice to see them and not have to travel 3 hours in the car!

Rudd's $900 Bonus

Dear Mr Rudd,

I would just like to take this opportunity to thank you for sending me a cheque fr $900. That was awful nice of you.

So you know, you have helped me to pay off a portion of my wedding reception.

I know you wanted me to spend it right away but I just had other priorities that involve white dresses and canapes. So sorry.

However, as a good little Aussie you'll be pleased to know that I went shopping this weekend and bought myself a new swing jacket, all my easter eggs, a copy of Triple J's Hottest 100 and some other purchases.

Don't worry, I'll spend the money you sent me soon.

Please feel free to send more cheques for the wedding.

Regards,
Luminescence.

uber-style and harem pants

I've been looking through some recommended style blogs lately trying to find my autumn inspiration.

But I have noticed that in some cases, it looks like people have just thrown together items to deliberately look like they're not trying.

Which leads to two possible reasons:
1. They are in fact uber-stylish and I am too conservative
2. I am, in fact, a style queen- without having to even attempt to team items together.

I hope it's 2, but have a sinking feeling it's 1.

In an effort to rid myself of the jeans, cute top and ballet flats rut I am trying harem pants. Whether or not this is successful I don't know but I'm looking forward to strolling through the shops either as uber-style queen or complete fool wearing a poo-catcher.

To quote a colleague, "we suffer for fashion."

Despite Rachel's tutoring, I still can't get this template to work for me. Words can not describe how bitterly disappointed I am.

Tech Help Pls

I need a tech head to help me sort out my weirdo formatting on this template.

New outfits

I haven't updated my blog in a week which is a bad start to my promise to myself to try and post a daily style update. Anyway, here are some of the outfits from the last seven days not in chronological order:

I can't remember where I wore this but it certainly wasn't to work.

Black round neck singlet top: Supre

Zebra skirt: Charlie Brown.
Green stilettoes: Pierre Fontaine

3 bamboo bracelets: Diva

Mum passed this beauty on to me and demands it back every time she sees it. Sorry Mum but I'm keeping it!

This is a close-up of the green shoes. Again, another unwanted purchase given to me by Mum but she can't ask for these back as they don't fit her!

I wore this to work this week. It has been a funny February. One day it is stinking hot, the next it is cooling down. This was a cooling down day/I'm feeling professional but stylish outfit.

Cream satin shirt with 3/4 sleeves and diamonte buttons: SES
Ancient navy skirt with little white cherry blossom print: Just Jeans
Black leather heels: Betts

For some reason, I really love this shirt. It cost me about $20 and I just love wearing it! It has elastic in the sleeves so they puff out just right and around the bottom so you can hide a full belly after lunch! Just seeing it in my cupboard makes me happy.

These are the most comfortable work shoes. I was going to wear them to meet the Prime Minister at the launch of Carers Week 2008 but I scuffed the front a few nights beforehand. One can not wear scuffed shoes to meet the Prime Minister.

Long story short, I wore other shoes that weren't as comfy (I took them off and slipped into my emergency ballet flats after it was over) and didn't even get to meet the PM.

Another work out where I didn;'t feel like wearing a button up shirt. I have shirts but find they can be a bit stuffy. The t-shirt is another SES bargain buy that I love to bits but seeing as it is a T-shirt, I pair it with a cardi so it looks at least a bit polished.

Emerald green Tshirt: SES
Black mini cardi: TEMT
Black comfy pull on pants: UndercoverWear

The only problem with this is the cardi doesn't do up properly under my bust so I have to leave it draped. Cardi makers just don't understand bigger busted women who aren't necessarily bigger all over just because they have an E cup. A common misconception in the clothing industry.

Final outfit worth noting this week I wore on sunday to Mark and Cassy's BBQ. They surprised us by revealing they had moved in together. We were all thrilled and now only one person in the group is single and living at home.

Go Mark and Cassy!

Beige grecian style dress:Forever New
Blue jeans: Jeans West.

These jeans actually have horrible rips in the upper thigh inseams but you can't really see them with a dress over the top.

I wore shoes of some sort too.

I really should try and regularly update.

A Fake New Beginning

My brilliant marketing manager is leaving at the end of this week. It's a bit sad really.

What I'm Wearing Today, Wed 4 Feb '09

My Mum's friend Catherine gave me this skirt after we were admiring some paperbag waist skirts a few weeks ago. It's a bit too big but I have belted it up around my waist and attempted a paperbag waist style.

Top: supre
Skirt: Millers
Belt: Target
Shoes: Mollini

These are my Mollini shoes, I haven't worn them in properly yet! They're more of a deep cherry colour in real life with a elastic strap across the foot.

As soon as my fiance saw my creation, he asked quite shocked "what are you wearing? You look like Steve Erkel"

Luckily, I don't subscribe to his fashion taste for a staple diet of jeans, shapeless t-shirts and 3 pairs of shoes :)

Another Neice or Nephew!

Just a quick post to say congratulations to my younger brother Dan and his fiance Rachel on their new baby.

Especially congrats to Miss Molly on becoming a big sister!

The new baby isn't here yet, but we can't wait to meet him/her.

Best wishes guys. xx A&J

The Engagement Party

The Engagement Party

So, I've been doing some thinking about the Engagement party. Even though it's just over 12 months to go...yeah yeah I know I'm an excited bride.

I've got the venue booked in and a time in mind. Even got the names of family on both sides and friends we want to invite.
That alone is 94 people and counting. We're still adding names.
Thankfully, the venue is free and it's BYOG.

But what to feed 94+ people on a summer afternoon? At an outside venue?

Here's some of my ideas:

so wow, dips, a cob loaf, satay sticks and bruschetta. How creative am I? Not!

In my head, each trestle table will have a small selection of dips/nibblies on it and will be decorated with these flowers in square glass vases...yup they're Hyacinths!

But seriously, dear reader, how would you feed 94+ people on a budget?

I'm sure it can be done.

Perhaps I could stock up on tons of square vases and use them to display nibblies like here

The only question after that is what to do with all the vases?!
Today I finally got in contact with the Event Manager at Miss Traill's House in Bathurst to book the venue. It's a shame she's so hard to contact. She only works 9-2 on Tuesdays.

so, this is what has been decided so far:
1. Venue has been tentatively booked
2. some meetings have been scheduled with reception venues
3. colour scheme is now green, black and white
4. first florist quote has come in
5. Bridesmaids dresses

Good sense tells me to book another venue as this one is too hard to contact but this one is just too nice.

I'm going to check out http://blackdownestate.com.au/. Also very nice.

She commented on how early I was when I mentioned my wedding date. I've read you need to book venues at least 12 months in advance. Maybe this only applies in big cities?

So here are some photos I took of the venue because I can't visit it every weekend.
This is where the guests will enter the garden and walk towards where the ceremony is being held.

And where the Bride will start her walk down the aisle.
